Karl and Luke Do it Again!

Karl Meneghisso and Lucas ÃKA Biceps Roque once again rolled through the competition in spectacular fashion in winning the 2011 Pro Footvolley Tour Santa Barbara Open presented by Bud Light Lime.

The youngest team on the tour showed why strength, conditioning, and power is so important today in professional footvolley. Lucas Roque was simply amazing. His high flying 2-point shots led the duo past Fernando Plentz and Adriano the Monster Boente at the semi-finals and into the finals. In the Championship Match, Luke and Karl allowed Menezes and Thiago Salvador to hang around for a little bit before running away with a 2 set to nil victory. Clearly the best team on the tour, Meneghisso and Roque played to the crowd which pretty much backed them all weekend.

Locals Jeff Johnson and Akaad almost pulled a massive upset versus Menezes and Salvador in the quarterfinals. The biggest upset however of the tournament and perhaps of 2011 occurred in the other quarterfinal where Tony and Oscar (both of LA) debuted on the Pro Footvolley Tour by beating AJ and Santa Cruz. AJ and Santa Cruz were out of rhythm and it showed. Perhaps the windy conditions played a factor, but the LA team rarely made mistakes and pulled into the semifinals. Menezes and Salvador made sure a second upset didn't occur and headed into the title match.

Santa Barbara proved the perfect California stop on the 2011 Tour. Both days the stadium was filled with enthusiastic fans. In the Future Stars match, Josy Souza played with local Brianna Lopez against Nana and Brian Joseff. The local college kids beat the ladies in a thriller much to the crowd~s delight.

The 2011 Pro Footvolley Tour ended with its best event of the season and expects to return to Santa Barbara in 2012.
