Crowd Favorites: New Champs!
The 2011 Pro Footvolley Tour Seaside Heights Open, presented by Bud Light Lime, brought the Jersey Shore its latest new reality stars: Karl Meneghisso and Lucas 'Biceps' Roque. The young duo, both male models, steamrolled the Virginia Beach runner-ups Adrian Boente and Fernando Plentz in straight sets to capture their first ever title on the Pro Footvolley Tour. Lucas Roque took home tournament MVP.

Too Hot to Handle
With scorching heat reaching upwards of 100 Degrees, Pro Footvolley Tour added night matches much to the delight of the Seaside Heights crowd. In the evening matches, Josy and Jiji again competed in a 'battle of the sexes' match and this time ... won! In the International Challenge, US National Team members Frankie Farberoff and Karl Meneghisso bested the Brazilians Plentz and Salvador. Revenge is sweet!

The tournament:
Once again Fernando Plentz and Adriano 'the Monster' Boente failed to win the event; but still were the topic of conversation of all who were present. The South Florida pair finally got past their nemises in Nelson 'Canela' Santa Cruz in the semi-finals in straight sets. In the other bracket, the champs barely survived Farberoff/Souza. Brenno Souza has played in the semi-finals in 3 of the 4 events this year. That match went to three sets.

In the final, Roque/Meneghisso were more rested and considerably more composed on the court versus the emotional Boente/Plentz. Too many unforced errors by the guys in yellow brought them their second straight tournament defeat. This time at the hands of the youngsters from Fort Lauderdale. Lucas Roque was magnificent. His acrobatic matrix kicks brought the crowd to its feet. Plentz, perhaps the best matrix kick specialist on the tour, didn't have his usual spring and erred on various matrix kick attemps unlike his efforts in the Semi-finals versus Canela/AJ in which he was brilliant. New Champs once again ... and to say models only care about their looks ... not on the Pro Footvolley Tour!
